A W-9 form is used to collect a person’s or business’s taxpayer information (name, address, and TIN) so a business can correctly report payments to the IRS on forms like 1099-NEC. The form is kept by the payer and is not sent to the IRS.

North Carolina Form E-595E, Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Exemption, is to be used for purchases for resale or other exempt purchases. With certain limited exceptions, the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Certificate of Exemption and Form E-595E require either a sales and use tax registration number or an exemption number.
